I myself am a beginner to RC planes, however, since I've done alot of research on HobbyKing planes, I thought I'd give the newbie my aircraft buying choice.
This list of items is a package of items that will get the beginner started:
- HobbyKing 1400mm EPO Bixler (ARF)
I advise you to buy the ARF version of the Bixler because its cheaper and will allow you to learn as you build. The Bixler as I have been told is a tough and easy to fly plane good for the newbie/beginner.
- Turnigy Nanotech 1300mAh 3S LiPo Battery
I would get two of these. The nano-tech's last longer and if the newbie is gonna be crashing alot, then... the nano-tech can take a little more of a beating I believe.
- TGS Sport 6x4E Propeller The stock propellers are alright but very flimsy. I would replace them with 6x4 for better efficiency and more power.
- HK 30A ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)
Although you only need a 20A ESC, since we are fitting a 6x4, and in order not to tempt fate, I suggest this 30A ESC. Simple and best.
- Turnigy 2S/3S Balance Charger
This is what I use. It charges batteries quite slowly however if you are getting into the hobby and are not sure how long you'll stay in it or are looking for a cheap charger, get this one. However, if you want something more powerful, look at the iMax or something similar.
- HobbyKing 6ch Transmitter (Tx/Rx) System 2.4Ghz Full Range
If you want something cheap... this is it, the HK-T6A. It is a re-branded version of the Fr-Sky model but does the job as well. But if you want something that will last you years, I suggest the Spektrum Dx6i.
